Position: Apprenticeship / Field Technician

Pay: $14.00 a hr. Weekly pay every Friday. One week hold.

Time: Monday - Friday / 7am - 4pm.

WORK DESCRIPTION:

Groome’s Brick Repair specializes in replacing cracked bricks, cracked mortar and lintel replacements around commercial and residential properties. We also offer masonry services like building porches, steps, columns, mailboxes, bricking- in openings and pavers platforms/walkways. Our service areas include Richmond down to the northern parts of North Carolina that could require out of town work throughout the year just depending on projects.

  • Picking up and dropping off materials to and from job sites
  • Grinding out mortar using an angle grinder
  • Lift 90-100 lbs. throughout the day
  • Learn how to install mortar
  • Learn how to install a lintel
  • Demo and dump debris
  • Working on ladders and scaffolding
  • Washing down and cleaning up properties

All full-time staff will be eligible for the following benefits after the first 90 day probation period.

Further Worker Description:

  • If hired there is a half day orientation on the first day. This position will require roughly 90 days of on the job / field training to fully learn the field Technician position. Brick repair and masonry are two different fields. Brick repair is more labor intensive than your standard masonry

position . We as a company do projects from Richmond down to the Northern parts of North

Carolina. Must be willing to work out of town. In order to be considered for our higher paying skilled technician position you must be able to:

  • use grout bag to install mortar,
  • be able to strike mortar,
  • cut out and replace a brick,
  • be able to cut out and install a lintel,
  • able to repoint mortar
  • able to wash down a project

Without knowing how to do all these things you would fall under our apprenticeship/ field technician position which would require on the job training. This position will cover how to do all those things along with other labor work such as demoing bricks/concrete, job site prep, driving to get materials and driving to remove debris from a job site
