Position Summary:
The Hospital Phlebotomist will provide care to our patients throughout the hospital environment including the ICU and the Emergency Center. The primary responsibility of the Hospital Phlebotomist is to perform venipunctures and capillary collections in varied situations; STAT draws, Timed draws, Routine draws and Codes. They must adhere to the safety and standards regulated by our agencies to assure proper efficiency of our specimens and maintain a high level of customer service to our patients.



Education/Experience:

Lab Assistant I: High school graduate or equivalent is preferred. Experience in a medical related field or an applied science degree is desirable. Certification in phlebotomy and one year hospital experience preferred.



Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:

Strong customer service skills, ability to work independently, good problem-solving skills.

Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.

Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to meet time sensitive customer requests and changes on short notice.

ASCP certification for phlebotomy preferred.

Additional Information:

This position supports our emergency and inpatient departments at Methodist Hospital. A variety of schedules are available including DAY and EVE shifts, full-time or part-time hours. Weekend and holiday rotation.
