SUMMARY

Good Harvest Skills Training Program is an intensive food service training program that integrates job readiness and culinary instruction in a classroom setting with practical experience in the production kitchen. Under the supervision of the Training Chef/Director, assumes the responsibility for job placement and support for students transitioning from the training program into employment. The Job Developer leads the essential skills training and the job readiness curriculum. Specifically, the Job Developer manages the employment preparation services to include barrier mitigation, career enhancement, direct job placement, and follow-up retention services. In addition, the Job Developer plays an integral role developing first hire agreements with employer partners in the region, coordinating onsite hiring events, and collaboratively working with the team to meet performance goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Essential Skills Training
    • Implement customized essential skills and job readiness training to increase student employability.
    • Track student progress and meets with the team to discuss performance issues.
    • Develop training materials and distribute to students timely.
  • Job Placement Assistance
    • Create Individual Career Plans (ICP) with students to develop barrier mitigation plan, career strategy, and education goals.
    • Facilitate individual sessions to include resume development, job search, completion of online applications, and interview preparation.
    • Provides job coaching post-graduation.
  • Job Development
    • Identifies potential employer partners and maintain relationships with such partners throughout the region.
    • Develop direct hire agreements.
    • Coordinate onsite job fairs and hiring events.
  • Retention Services
    • Connect with graduates on a monthly basis to facilitate job placement services.
    • Provide monthly follow up to include resolving barriers hindering employment stability and job replacement services.
    • Conduct retention follow up at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.
  • Data and Performance Tracking
    • Work closely with Training Chef/Director and Recruitment and Retention Specialist to track student attendance and overall performance while enrolled in training program.
    • Performs data entry and uses data systems to produce relevant reporting related to tracking job assistance, placement, and retention outcomes.
    • Maintain case notes, paper and electronic files, and database in real time as specified by compliance standards.
    • Submits monthly reports highlighting challenges, strategies, activities, and outcomes.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Provide timely feedback to students regarding their progress.
  • Make recommendations to the Training Chef/Director regarding appropriate career development materials and resources.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on industry trends at all levels.
  • Collaborate with other staff to assist with recruitment and orientation of students.
  • Drive Good Harvest Student Transportation van as needed.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and professional development training.
  • Attend networking events with service providers.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Training Chef/Director.
  • Attend SVDP and SVDP Enterprises special events.
  • Uphold the vision, mission, and values of St. Vincent de Paul and SVDP Enterprises
  • Supports a welcoming and positive environment for students and works with them effectively.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree, required.
  • 3 years of experience in work force development or related field.
  • Experience may substitute for education.
  • Proven experience placing hard-to-employ individuals into viable employment opportunities.
  • Experience facilitating job readiness training.
  • Must have experience with direct service delivery.
  • Proven track record soliciting first hire agreements with employers.
  • Experience working in a performance-based environment.
  • Cultural understanding, including the ability to relate in a courteous, comfortable, non-judgmental or patronizing manner with persons of all socio-economic and religious backgrounds
  • Ability to work in a diverse team model setting required.
  • Must have excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient technology skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data management systems.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends.
