The expected base pay range for this position is $ $115,300 to $187,300 per year.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Talent Analytics and Strategy team is looking for a highly motivated and qualified HR Data Scientist.

The primary responsibility of this role is to identify relationships, trends or special populations and make the connections that transform data into valuable talent-related insights to inform strategic decision making and impact business results.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Talent Analytics, this individual will play a lead role in the team’s objectives of using data assets to pro-actively anticipate talent-management needs and evolving our analytic capabilities. The right candidate must have proven ability to drive business results with data-driven insights and must be comfortable working with a range of stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise for all data science needs within the team
  • Perform hands-on data mining, data quality testing, manipulations, transformation, hypothesis testing, correlation analyses, segmentation and predictive modeling. Develop custom data models and algorithms
  • Bring creative problem solving to bridge data gaps, including data reclassifications, or extrapolation
  • Validate data accuracy and put standards and governance in place to sustain data and model foundation and prioritize data quality
  • Continuously grow and refine talent insights by incorporating new sources (internal & external) or identifying novel relationships within the data
  • Be a consultant to the business to surface business priorities and tailor data mining and analyses so results will be actionable and measurable.
  • Collaborate in identifying most impactful data sources (structured and unstructured) to prioritize integration efforts
  • Look beyond the numbers to identify the root cause and key drivers of talent trends
  • Demonstrate keen skills in interpreting data effectively and creatively communicating analyses utilizing a variety of visual story telling techniques
  • Data visualization through building interactive and automated dashboards that enable internal customers to get timely insights to inform their decision making
  • Champion innovative ideas that add significant value by applying data science to the Human Resources domain
  • Coach and develop next generation of HR data scientists

What you bring

  • Experience using a variety of data mining/analysis methods and tools, building and implementing models, creating algorithms and running simulations.
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
  • Hands-on experience in leading advanced analytic techniques, data mining, segmentation, experiment design and predictive modeling efforts
  • Deep working knowledge querying databases and using statistical computer languages (SAS, SQL, Alteryx, R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Robust knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
  • Experience in data mining techniques: clustering, prediction, GLM, decision trees, bootstrapping, text mining, NLP, etc.
  • Experience in developing data visualization through interactive dashboards using Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, PowerBI, etc.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data
  • Expertise in turning analytical results into compelling stories which influence business direction
  • Prior leadership role in implementing analytic standards and governance to tightly manage data/model quality
  • Current knowledge on latest analytics and business intelligence developments, trends and tools
  • Prior leadership role in a consultative capacity with a strong team collaboration orientation
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise and actionable manner
  • Superior project management skills
  • Naturally inquisitive and driven to pursue answers
