Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School of Chicago, IL is seeking to hire High School Math Teachers to play a vital role in our students' academic success. This position offers a competitive salary based on experience. Our Teachers work Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:30pm with a shortened academic day in the summer and time off in July and August.

You will create engaging lessons and participate in all aspects of planning and co-creation of High School Math courses including Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus & Physics. As part of a team of teachers working to ensure an enriching and safe school experience for High School Students, attend and participate in school meetings and related conferences, and collaborate effectively with a co-teacher with expertise in Special Education.

75% You'll be responsible for instruction of secondary math classes including lesson planning, assessment and direct instruction; and establish and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment that is conducive to learning; and, design, prepare, and implement lessons in coordination with the Special Education teacher; and,

15% You'll attend and participate in staff meetings, educational planning meetings, and clinical meetings; and, document and assess student progress in a variety of formats; and,

10% You'll collaborate with educational staff to develop innovative curriculum that also addresses the individual needs of students across a wide variety of learning styles; and, Complete any other duties as assigned by the Academic Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Illinois Teaching PEL in High School Math is required
  • Illinois PEL LBS 1 is preferred
  • Three years of classroom experience teaching High School Math preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with students with Emotional Disabilities and/or Autism in classroom setting is preferred
  • Applicants should possess a strong commitment to strength perspective, empowering families and a willingness to work in a high demanding work situation that requires flexibility and innovation
