Collins Aerospace is looking to fill several Group Leader, Mechanical Assembler V positions that will support the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) facility. You will be supporting our Airbus A320 aircraft technology. You will be working in a facility that has been transitioning to state-of-the-art equipment and advanced manufacturing processes. The position is currently working onsite at our Foley AL facility. Relocation assistance is available.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as team leader in leadership absence
  • Solve problems and make recommendations for new procedures.
  • Assist team members in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and/or engineering drawings to assemble equipment.
  • Act as a facilitator or team leader to other Mechanical Assemblers
  • Help to members operate standard hand and electrical tools, measuring and light equipment for tasks such as drilling holes, installing fasteners, routing and trimming parts and applying primers and sealants.
  • Interact regularly with other stakeholders to provide status updates for customers or leadership
  • Perform more complex assemblies, rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of product in workstations.
  • Perform quality work checks of other Mechanical Assemblers, identifies product defects and records identified defects.
  • Participate in compliance inspection continuous improvement (CI) activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED OR
  • AA/AS degree or other 2-year post high school training OR
  • In absence of a diploma or degree, must have 8 years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction / facilities experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
  • Aerospace work experience
  • Experience leading/mentoring other assemblers
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams and/or engineering drawings to assemble equipment.
  • Experience with general hand and/or power tools
  • Experience with ISO-9001 standards
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Tools
  • Able to communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
  • Experience with MS Office: updating Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint-create basic presentations
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to work in a standing position up to minimum of 8 hours per day

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program or product lead experience
  • Composite Repair Certified
  • Experience with any of the following: hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, precision measuring equipment and light equipment.
  • Experience with Lean, ACE or CORE manufacturing concepts
  • Able to communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership
  • AMQAS (Advanced Manufacturing Quality Assurance System) experience, if not will certify
