JOB SUMMARY:

The Grants and Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for seeking funding opportunities and coordinating special projects to meet Mount Rogers Community Services’ (MRCS or Agency) goals in charitable giving and government support. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Grant Writing and Agency Advancement. This position will manage the pre-award and post-award grant process. Identify, write, and edit requests for proposal for federal, state, and regional awards. Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects that result in new program development or services alongside internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for the identification, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and establishing annual fund-raising efforts. Assist the Director of Grant Writing and Agency Advancement in related work as apparent or assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Write, edit, and submit competitive applications and proposals for funding and/or letters of interest. Develop project budgets in accordance to grant guidelines. Manage the collection of all required documentation and process of supplying progress reports. Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for gathering information, writing, review, approval, and transmittal. Provide policy guidance and technical assistance with all aspects of proposal development and upon award, ensuring compliance with award guidelines, federal and state regulations.
  • Research and identify federal, state, regional funding opportunities that align with the Agency mission, strategic growth, and fundraising priorities. Manage a calendar and database to track potential opportunities, proposal requirements, status, and deadlines. Report on opportunities and project timelines on a regular basis to supervisor.
  • Develop and oversee project implementation timelines, collaborating with project team members and leadership to accomplish project objectives in a timely fashion and within the project’s identified goals and budget. Plan, direct, and evaluate project activities, with the goal of boosting economical and efficient performance, as well as the value of the Agency’s operations and services array.
  • Oversee data collection, performance measurements, and process evaluation. Establish processes for the collection, reporting, monitoring, and analysis of outcome measures. Monitor and report on data trends and program outcomes to leadership, staff, and project stakeholders. Develop agency’s community needs assessment and community behavioral health improvement plan.
  • Identify, solicit, and steward prospective and current donors and corporate sponsors, moving donors and sponsorships in a timely manner towards solicitation and closure. Develop meaningful relationships and effective strategies to engage and retain donor prospects, leveraging relationships with members of the Board of Directors, staff, and other donors.
  • Develop fund-raising opportunities, including single events and detailed campaigns that increase monetary donations made to the agency. Engage partners, Board Members, and community stakeholders in fund-raising goals.
  • Record, track, and report all prospect contact information in the appropriate database system to ensure purposeful donor relations.
  • Participate in engagement opportunities that align with the Agency’s mission and strategic growth efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to be self-motivating and work independently, manage multiple proposals and projects, develop project budgets, strong project management skills, excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills; excellent follow-through and organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, consultants, contract providers, college faculty, federal and state agency staff, associates, and the general public.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of grant writing, budget development, community-based program design and implementation, survey sampling, survey development, needs assessment as well as demonstrated skill in research, implementation, quantitative and qualitative data collection, and analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general laws, and administrative policies governing financial practices and procedures; comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and budgeting in government, experience writing federal and state grant proposals is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of behavioral health in Virginia system, StepVA, and legislative system in Virginia is preferred.
Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree preferred with coursework in epidemiology, public health, psychology, sociology, marketing, business, english, or a related field with two (2) years of grant writing and budget development, grant/project management and program evaluation, data collection and analysis, preferably with human services programs and particularly behavioral health and developmental services.

Mount Rogers Community Services, in following current CMS regulations, requires all New Hires to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID 19 or have a religious or medical exemption approved no later than the date of employment.
