Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks a talented elementary school teacher for the 2023-24 school year. We are looking for culturally competent candidates that possess experience working as educators in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. We are chartered for grades K-8. A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including students, staff, and families across a range of identities.A decisive educator who can make difficult decisions taking into consideration the needs of students and the school community.Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change.Skilled at reflecting on how to improve, self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and willingness to take responsibility for actions and mistakes.ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to the following: Plan and deliver effective units and lessons that check for student learning using a variety of assessment techniquesSets high expectations for all students, but understands that students may take different pathways to reach those expectations Use teaching methods that engage all students in critical thinking, ownership, discovery, curiosity, and joy throughout the lesson Use assessments and other data to analyze student learning, create intervention plans, and decide what to re-teach, provide additional support, or enrichment.Implement students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 accommodations by using a variety of accommodations and modifying assignments, when applicable Use SEI strategies to meet the needs of English Learners in content areas as they develop reading, listening, speaking, and writing competency As needed, adjust and differentiate the curriculum to align instruction with the needs of your students and culturally responsive teaching practices. Teach intervention lessons to students who need additional supportRegularly and proactively communicate with families Teach, re-teach, and positively enforce school-wide consistencies and classroom expectationsImplement school-wide behavior management structures using restorative practices.

Lead an advisory crew of students in daily check-ins, discussions, team building activities, social-emotional learning, and preparation for Student-Led Conferences Collaborate with other educators and colleagues, including other teachers, EL Education school designer, service providers, and school leaders about students, classroom management, culture, habits of character, curriculum, instruction, and assessmentModel and demonstrate a strong commitment to: the schools vision and motivating others to do the same;the work of being an anti-racist school;student empowerment, and commitment to allowing students to play an active role in supporting the schools vision and climate; anda whatever it takes spirit to ensure that each student is successful.Demonstrate enthusiasm for fostering teamwork and collaboration to support excellence in teaching and learning.Show a commitment to continually seek out perspectives across a range of identities and can respond appropriately to the perspectives of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.Join Our Adult CrewAt Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and participate in these events, ranging from student and family orientation activities to celebrations of learning to graduation. We work together to support the safe and happy arrival and dismissal of our students, collaborate and plan together and use data to guide decision-making. We are intentional about engaging our faculty and staff in the development of the Academy and of themselves.
