Peninsula Plastics Recycling, a division of the Merlin Group of Companies, is a full service plastics recycler and processor that specializes in baling, sorting, grinding, washing, pelletizing and solid stating of recycled PET from the California CRV system. With access to multiple streams of feedstock, Peninsula can offer customers ongoing sustainable production of material. Its 180,000 square foot facility located in Turlock, CA produces an annual output of 60 million pounds of recycled PET flake and pellet that are FDA approved.

Electrician

Report to: Chief Automation Officer

Summary: This is a job of extreme complexity requiring the ability to work and act both independently and under the direction of the Chief Automation Officer. This position will provide full electrical support to Peninsula Plastics Recycling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Master Electrician Responsibilities:

  • Installing, repairing, and servicing electrical systems.
  • Sourcing or fabricating replacement electrical components.
  • Interpreting blueprints and drawing rough sketches when required.
  • Guiding and overseeing other electricians.
  • Drawing up preventative maintenance measures and explaining these to clients and other electromechanics.
  • Obtaining required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
  • Use a variety of tools, equipment, and reference materials such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and literature providing knowledge on updated electrical studies
  • Testing and troubleshooting systems.
  • Providing assistance during emergencies.
  • Updating project records and preparing relevant documents and reports for clients.
  • Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians.
  • Basic programming skills (helpful but not required)
  • Other duties as required by management.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully the individual must have the following or equivalent:

  • WORK-RELATED SKILLS:
  • Detail-oriented, compliance-minded, and keen interpersonal skills are necessary to perform effectively in the position.
  • Ability to utilize fitting instruments and diagnostic equipment to fix, introduce, supply, and test volt and underneath electrical circuits, hardware and apparatuses.
  • Ability to lead and prepare staff and understudies to learn the expertise of the Master in the field.
  • EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of experience as an Electrician.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication.
  • SAFETY:
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures, mandated by the building’s safety regulations.
  • Works safely and follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Reports unsafe working conditions and behavior.
  • Take actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
  • Adhere to PPR safety culture.
  • Ability to understand commercial electrical blueprints and outlines and apply the experience gained through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance
  • Must have knowledge with electrical systems including planning and modification of circuits.

Internal: This position communicates to all levels of the organization

External: This position communicates contractors.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is in a manufacturing environment
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
  • The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
