Job Summary
Physical Sciences Laboratories (PSL) has more than 100 specialized laboratories used to test, analyze, and troubleshoot virtually every aspect of rocket and satellite system design, development, construction, deployment, and operation. The diverse expertise of the laboratories’ technical staff allows PSL to stay abreast of new technological developments and program support issues associated with rapidly evolving space systems.
The Corporate Metrology Office (CMO) is seeking an Expeditor Specialist who will be responsible for providing project control, laboratory support, procurement coordination, and equipment transportation needs based on a basic understanding of job functions and requirements.
This is a full-time position located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • You will be a liaison between internal clients (M&TE users) and various Aerospace support organizations. S/he will develop and manage positive working relationships with Aerospace personnel, especially M&TE users, through supporting relationship building tasks like making phone calls, writing email and person to person customer engagement
  • S/he will assist in tracking activities to ensures effective flow of M&TE through the CMO lab by logging in service requests from laboratories in metrology database, conduct database review and updates
  • You will assist in utilizing Aerospace Procurement tools (Process Director, P-Card, SAP, etc.) to place orders for calibration maintenance, and repair services with suppliers
  • Assist in properly securing equipment prior to transportation utilizing special equipment carts, straps, and department work vehicle. Equipment often weighing more than fifty pounds. Assist in transporting secure equipment between metrology lab and end user workspaces
  • Maintains and operates the Instrument Loan Pool and coordinates rental equipment. Coordinates M&TE exchanges between the CMO Director and the user community. Completes necessary documentation for pool equipment transfers and enters transaction data into the appropriate database
  • Performs compliance sweeps of ETG laboratories to ensure that they meet CMO requirements. Assists CMO Quality Assurance to support internal and external audits
This position is available as an Expeditor Specialist I or Expeditor Specialist II
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Expeditor Specialist I
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Typically, 1 or more years of applicable professional or educational experience is required
  • Must maintain a valid driver license to maintain eligibility to operate Aerospace Corporate Fleet Vehicles
  • Ability to transport equipment often weighing more than fifty pounds assisted
  • Create Shipping Orders and coordinates with Aerospace Shipping and Receiving department personnel as well as outside calibration supplier to ensure that M&TE leaving the Aerospace Corporation meets specific packaging and transportation needs and is tracked in the Metrology database
  • Assist in Property department database updates of metrology lab equipment as needed for MTE that require change of status or surplus request
  • Assist in supporting, monitoring, and responding to corporate Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) delinquency goals on an ongoing basis. By assisting in resolving outstanding issues through metrology lab processes and directives such as locating and logging equipment in for calibration or transfer to Support and Auxiliary Equipment (SAE)
  • MS Office Suite (including Word and Excel) is required
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Expeditor Specialist II
Same requirements as an Expeditor Specialist I noted above, in addition to:
  • Typically, 3 or more years of applicable professional or educational experience is required
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Expeditor Specialist I or Expeditor Specialist II
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Graduated from a technical college or other recognized apprenticeship is highly desirable
  • Certifications or similar within aerospace, aviation or automotive is a nice-to-have
  • Experience in measurement and test equipment logistics, or related experience is preferred
  • Experience in Metrology laboratory environment is encouraged
  • Proficient in Excel and SAP, exposure to database and reporting tools is a plus
  • Sunflower and Met/Track database experience preferred
  • Strong customer service background/experience

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
