Ending Hunger Corps - Healthy Lincoln County, Damariscotta Job at AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps Maine

Healthy Lincoln County (HLC) is a local public health organization focused on building healthy, thriving communities. Our current programs focus on food security, nutrition education, and substance use prevention. We tackle the root causes, going upstream and utilizing an asset-based, collaborative, population-based approach. Using evidence-based initiatives, we work with our community partners to improve the health and well-being of all county residents, implementing data supported strategies to identify disparities, seeking health equity for all. HLC is looking to have a VISTA from June 2022 through May 2023. We are looking for an energetic, self-starter who thrives in both a team environment and working independently. A strong candidate will be able to adhere to structured goals and objectives, while also being flexible to adapt to community needs. Much of the VISTA’s work involves engaging with community members, therefore, applicants must relate well with co-workers, external partners, and the public. Applicants should have a basic understanding of food systems at a minimum. The VISTA will build the capacity of HLC’s Food Security programs which aim to support local farmers and reduce food waste while reducing food insecurity in our community. This will be done by expanding partnerships and the local gleaning programs, implementing, and maintaining data management systems, developing social media and outreach materials, and enhancing volunteer recruitment and training practices. Prospective applicants can visit www.healthylincolncounty.org for more information or find us on Facebook and Instagram. HLC can also be contacted by emailing director@healthylincolncounty.org. This position contributes to Maine’s goal of ending hunger in the state by 2030 as part of Ending Hunger Corps, a 25-member cohort model VISTA program sponsored by Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation, Forestry (DACF): https://www.maine.gov/dacf/about/commissioners/endhunger/.
