Dog & Cat Groomer - The Downtown Paw

We are a growing dog daycare located in Malden that offers its employees free daycare for their dogs, 20% off retail items. Pay structure is based on commission.

Our Mission:

At The Downtown Paw, we believe that daycare should be more than just a day play. We can structure your dog's day to be filled with both mental and physical stimulation, free play, training, and more. We want our clients and their dogs to know that at The Downtown Paw, your dog’s happiness, safety, and well being comes first.

We’re looking for an individual who can groom both DOGS & CATS in order to offer a much-requested service by our clients.

• We offer on site training for understanding dog behavior and body language.

• We pay for staff to be trained in pet cpr/first aid.

• Opportunity for in house promotions.

Requirements:

• Prior grooming experience through an internship or apprenticeship is preferred

• Able to write and speak English fluently

• Able to communicate to customers during phone calls, and in person

• Be able to take direction, and train to our company standards

• Work alone and with a group without issue

Responsibilities:

• Bathing and clipping dogs to conform to a variety of breed-specific standard styles

• Detangling and removing matted hair

• Drying the coat

• Checking for parasites and other skin conditions

• Trimming nails, cleaning the ears, expressing anal sacs, brushing teeth

• The groomer is also responsible for accommodating any special requests from the owner and informing owners of any health problems discovered during the grooming process.

• The ability to assess the behavior and condition of each dog

• The ability to groom large, overly excited, or frightened dogs without getting hurt or injuring the animals

• Proof of any certifications, and or training, etc will be asked for.
