This individual will assist the Director with the management of the effective and efficient Admitting function, Emergency Department / Clinic Registration and Information Desk with sensitivity to the stress of patients and / or families.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Two years of Admitting/Bed Control and Management experience required.
  • One year of Admitting/Emergency Department Supervision experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the Emergency Department/Clinic Registration office, Direct Access, Financial Services, Insurance Verification, Clinic Registration and Pre-Op Registration in such activities as: conducting admissions during night shift (11 pm - 7 am); preparing Admitting forms, Emergency Department/Clinic forms, Insurance forms; obtaining deposits or payments; handling valuables and notifying necessary authorities such as family, clergy, courts or police regarding emergency admissions.
  • Manages maintaining a liaison between the hospital and physicians practicing at Virginia Hospital Center. Acts as a central point of contact to respond to physician's needs insofar as providing their offices with insurance information, pamphlets, brochures, birthing room information, etc. Addresses physicians offices with patient hospital related problems of all types.
  • Assists with providing written procedures for the implementation of all Registration, Direct Access, Financial Services, Insurance Verification, Clinic Registration, Pre-Op Registration, interpreting and incorporating Hospital and Financial Policies therein. Trains new employees and arranging on-the-job training for the Admitting, Emergency Clinic Registration, Direct Access, Financial Services, Insurance Verification, Clinic Registration, and Pre-Op Registration.
  • Submits reports on activities of the Admitting Department, Emergency/Clinic Registration Department, Direct Access, Financial Services, Insurance Verification, Clinic Registration, and Pre-Op Registration and meets regularly with the Admitting/Registration Manager to discuss these activities.
  • Responsible for the complete and effective operation of Admitting Department during a Code Red disaster code.
  • Supervises the Admitting Office staff in such activities as: pre-admission interviews; conducting admission interviews; implementing Hospital credit policies; room assignments and transfers; maintaining accurate admitting reports and bed index. Oversees the daily reconciliation of the census and ongoing verification of physician privileges. Reviews all completed work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversees staff of the staff of the Admitting department, Emergency Clinic Registration, Direct Access, Financial Services, Insurance Verification, and Clinic Registration, and Pre-Op Registration.
