JOB SUMMARY:
Bermuda Village Retirement Center, a Premier Retirement Community located in the beautiful, gated Bermuda Run Community, is now accepting applications for a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee care in our, 36 bed Skilled Nursing Home.

Director of Nursing will be able to utilize superior C.N.A and Nursing ratios in the area along with a nursing team consisting of a Staff Development Coordinator, MDS Nurse, Unit Nurse, and a Weekend Nurse Supervisor to oversee operations in the best skilled setting in the area. DON will also work closely with dedicated team of on-site Wake Forest Geriatricians.

Desired candidate will have vast knowledge on both state and federal rules and regulations and will work well with a team of dedicated staff members to provide excellent patient care in one of the Premier Retirement Communities in North Carolina. Preferred understanding of MDS and reimbursement mechanisms is a plus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of an associate degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Valid Registered Nursing License required (RN)
Minimum eligibility requirements:
  • At least two or more years prior experience in Long Term Care setting
  • Supervisory experience desirable.
  • Possess strong leadership qualities.
  • Must be honest, fair, dependable, respect confidentiality and the rights and privacy of others.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public.
  • Must meet all health requirements.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly while recognizing that the community is the residents’ home.
  • Have strong organizational and team building skills
  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Have ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Be available to take call according to the rotating call schedule
Essential Functions:
  • Oversee medical and health service activities and personnel
  • Plan and coordinate health services
  • Work collaboratively with physicians to implement appropriate healthcare programs
  • Maintain a clean environment to ensure patient safety
  • Establish, train and enforce healthcare policies and procedure
  • Assure fiscal accountability within nursing department
  • Foster team unity and cohesive approach to concierge style care delivery
  • Serve as the Infection Preventions and maintain Infection Control Program
  • Maintain QAPI program and reporting
  • Oversee the Antibiotic Stewardship Program
Ideal Candidate:
  • Have experience working with Matrix Care
  • Will be Spice Certified
  • Is proficient with patient assessment and the MDS process
  • Has experience as a Director of Nursing
Customer service:
  • Responsible for ensuring that all team members are providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Take initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority.
  • Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (Visitors include anyone who visits the community; specifically, current residents’ families and friends, prospective residents and their families, referral sources, vendors and regulators).
  • Answer phones appropriately, according to company and community standards.
  • Continuously improve resident satisfaction through compliance, menu options and comment card feedback with Bermuda Village standards of operations and training.
Residents’ Rights:
  • Ensure compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights.
Other:
  • Communicates and adheres to company policies and procedures.

Working conditions:
  • Scheduled hours; available evening and weekends for events.
  • Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., through the workday, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Physical/Sensory requirement:
  • ·Medium work: ability to exert 10-35 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and staff.
