Director of Donor Engagement - Memphis, TN


Ducks Unlimited, Inc., has an opening for a Director of Donor Engagement at our National Headquarters in Memphis, TN. The Director of Donor Engagement reports to the Managing Director of Donor Engagement and is based at the National Headquarters in Memphis, TN.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure donors are acknowledged and recognized to strengthen and increase their financial support for Ducks Unlimited.
  • Direct the development and implementation of strategic donor communication plan incorporating multiple mediums.
  • Support the President’s Council program by creating program materials such as brochures, banners and invitations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with communications regarding the DU Magazine, Wetlands America magazine, annual reports, web-based and social media as well as communication.
  • Ensure all donor information sheets, packets, and mailings include the most relevant information, including the lockbox conversion information.
  • Serve as primary liaison with the communications team on development program projects to include campaign and other special initiative materials such as the Grand Slam program.
  • Coordinate with field team to manage major donor events such as evenings of conservation, project dedications and tributes. Provide support to the field team for to include maintaining department event calendar, managing invitations, creating/maintaining photo archive and publicizing through appropriate communication vehicles.
  • Support the development management team with staff recognition efforts.
  • Regularly update donor lobby boards located at National Headquarters.
  • With the Engagement team, revise processes and procedures for the donor engagement program.
  • With the Engagement team, ensure the DU website includes recent and relevant information.


Qualifications:

Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college; minimum of five years of fundraising, communications and non-profit administration.


Communication Skills:
Superb communications, writing and presentation skills.


Technological Proficiency:
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite proficiency are required; experience with membership database required with experience in Blackbaud CRM preferred.


Interpersonal Skills:
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Commitment to the mission and goals of Ducks Unlimited.


Management & Leadership Skills:
Ability to design, implement and direct multiple projects, setting deadlines and ensuring program accountability, and to think strategically, both departmentally and organizationally. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively relate to donors, volunteers and colleagues. Ability to motivate and hold accountable team members to meet personal and team goals. Proficiency in prioritizing and managing multiple, diverse and on-going projects. Ability to work long hours and occasional weekends. Willingness to travel frequently and on short notice.


Reporting and Location:
This position reports to the National Director of Advancement and works from the national headquarters in Memphis, TN. Candidates must be willing to work hours that extend outside of the typical workday and workweek throughout the year. Overnight travel is required.
