POSITION: DIRECTOR (CHILD CARE CENTER)

REPORTS TO: AREA DIRECTOR

*** Signing Bonus = $500 *** (please discuss it with Area Director once offered the position)

Company Description

Our mission at LUV ‘N’ CARE LEARNING CENTER is to help children discover the joy of learning. Our Preschool have child-centered, hands-on academic preschool program offering care for student ages six weeks to twelve years old including Before-After School program. We area 4-star rated (Top level) from Texas Rising Star program. We also offer fantastic and fun before/after school program for school age students with free transportation to/from nearby elementary schools.

Job Description

Our operation hours are from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday. Working Hours for this position may vary within this time frame and will be discussed during the interview.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Know and be aware of the objective and purpose of the Minimum Standards of the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, Child Care licensing division. Ensure that organization is in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Know and be aware of the company’s Standard Operating Procedures, Personnel Policies, and Parent’s Handbook & Transportation Handbook. Ensure that organization is in compliance with operating standards and procedures.
  • Know and be aware of laws and regulations governing the child care industry, including, but not limited to: Texas DFPS -- Abuse & Neglect, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Workforce Commission and U.S. Department of Labor. Ensures that organization is in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Report suspected abuse and neglect to the Texas DFPS and law enforcement as required by the Texas Family Code, as well as, SSECDC, Inc.
  • Implementation and oversight of adequate and efficient scientific based curriculum and lesson planning to match the needs of the populations and ages served from infants through twelve years of age.
  • Supervises all staff members to ensure safety and supervision of children, implementation of curriculum, classroom management, and efficiency in delivery of services.
  • Demonstrates physical, emotional and intellectual competencies necessary for self-control and good judgment when performing assigned responsibilities and delegating said responsibilities.
  • Interacts frequently with staff, children and parents to foster communication and establish good working relationships.
  • Efficiently allocates resources to ensure that budgetary goals are met and in compliance. This may include, but not be limited to: staffing, staffing patterns, staffing ratios, center resources, center materials, transportation costs, etc.
  • Interacts with outside agencies and general public to ensure accurate representation of the facility, its purpose and its mission.
  • Maintain enrollment at adequate levels. Performs necessary marketing tasks to ensure that enrollment goals are maintained. This may include, but not limited to: flyers throughout targeted community areas, door-to-door cold calls, parent incentives for new business, enrollment incentives for new business, etc.
  • Develops and maintains processes and systems for all functional levels of services and programs. Establishes written documentation to support said processes.
  • Maintains premises within acceptable parameters and delay in repairing, building, plumbing, and electrical, playground, etc.
  • Ensures that all documentation is in compliance with all standards.
  • Hold staff accountable for all rules and regulations governing child care center as well as rules of company policy.
  • Accurately matches staffs abilities and talents to: age group, ability to safely control and supervise designated age group, ability to effectively implement lesson plan and follow schedule.
  • Act as a mediator between staff and parents or staff and staff relationships when necessary to resolve any issues.
  • Foster opportunities inside and outside of center for continuing education.
  • Ensures that adequate materials and resources are available for the implementation and delivery of services. This may include material and supply, grocery, gasoline for vans, etc.
  • Arrange and attend staff meeting in effective manner to ensure continuity and implementation of program goals.
  • Maintain overall professional personal appearance adhering to the company guidelines.
  • Attend all school functions and events. Attend as many as field trips possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO CHILDREN

  • Ensure each child's safety and supervision to prevent negative outcomes.
  • Treat all children equal, do not show favoritism. Same for the staff as well.
  • Provide universally accepted learning opportunities to optimize each child's ability to be successful.
  • Provide multicultural experiences and field trips to ensure that children have opportunities to think outside the box.
  • Advocate for early literacy and the promotion of literacy within the scope of the curriculum and beyond when necessary.
  • Advocate for safety campaigns that promote child wellness to benefit the community e.g. "Look before You Leave," "Buckle Up", and "Water Safety."
  • Non-discrimination of children with disabilities, physical, social/emotional within the abilities of the program to adequately serve them.
  • Compassion and respect for children as emotional and physical human beings.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO PARENTS

  • Ensure safety and supervision of their child in a learning environment.
  • Effective communication via all tools available, including but not limited to: e-mail, written documentation, one-on-one verbal communication.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in related field
  • Valid Texas Director's License issued by the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, Child Care Licensing Division.
  • Ongoing minimum of thirty (30) clock hours per year with a minimum of twenty (20) clock hours’ units in management annually.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Child Care (center based): 5 years or more
  • Under Management: 3 years or more
  • As a Director (or Assistant Director): 2 years or more

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Valid Texas Director's License
  • Current Valid Texas Driver’s License with no violations pending

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of thirty pounds.
  • Must be able to walk a minimum of two miles without duress.
  • Must have an annual comprehensive physical to ensure that adequate health is maintained within acceptable medical parameters conducive to a full-time work environment.
  • Must have current TB Test showing that employee is free from tuberculosis.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to multi-task and handle issues that may arise as a result of such.
  • Ability to rationally delegate tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and/or duress.
  • Ability to self-assess and re-direct.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate verbally using correct enunciation of the English language.
  • Ability to communicate in writing using correct English grammar.
  • Required to maintain a working residential telephone and/or cellular telephone so that the center may be in communications as necessary.

LITERACY SKILLS

  • Ability to effectively and comprehensively utilize the Child Care Manager Software.
  • Ability to effectively and comprehensively utilize the designated electronic billing software for Child Care Services.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating System, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to design monthly newsletter and calendar.
  • Working knowledge of the internet, educational websites, and the ability to download necessary materials and resources, and e-mailing functions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass Background check and Drug test as per State requirement.
  • Must meet state-required basic health requirements.
  • Must go through pre-Hire training and all mandatory paperwork required by the company

COVID-19 considerations:
All parents/Staff are required to wear mask at the main door. Curbside pick-up available. Temperatures are taken at the main door before entering the center. Commercial grade COVID-19 sanitizing/disinfecting treatments are done daily and over the weekends.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Childcare: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Management of a Child Care center: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • Driver's License (Preferred)
  • Texas Child Care Director's License (Required)
