What You’ll do

Responsible for leading the team’s efforts to originate, structure, and close financeable off-take arrangements (PPAs, CfDs, hedges, etc.) for large-scale solar and storage projects in designated regions. This role features significant cross-functional collaboration with teams across the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead regional business development efforts for large-scale solar and storage origination, including outreach, transaction strategies, commercial negotiations, sector business intelligence, and relationship development
  • Originate, structure, negotiate, and close off-take agreements
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration with development, construction, finance and other teams to support offtake agreements
  • Follow market and industry trends, pricing and competitor activities, including regulatory/financial incentives, PPA pricing, and structured financing transactions
  • Manage and train analysts to model and market solar and storage projects to potential off-takers
  • Determine pricing and product structures to optimize project economics
  • Shepherd off-take agreements through the executive review process
  • Collaborate closely with Executive Team to contribute to forward-looking platform strategies and Business Development team growth

Who we’re looking for

Knowledge
  • How to effectively structure and negotiate renewable off-take deals
  • Strong analytical and pro-forma modelling skills
  • Comfort leading discussions with internal and external stakeholders, bringing projects and strategies to our London-based Investment Committee and liaising with our partner bp on bi-directional value creation opportunities
  • Prior deal history and existing relationship networks in the utility-scale solar PV sector are strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in ERCOT market structure and off-take opportunities preferred
  • Proficiency in battery storage offtake contracts (tolling agreements, revenue share, etc) preferred
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree/MBA preferred
Experience
  • 7+ years of experience working in U.S. power markets executing commercial transactions, overseeing business intelligence/strategies and understanding/employing fundamentals of solar project off-take structures and finance
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in the energy industry (preference for utility-scale solar) in an origination, development, or similar relevant functional capacity
  • Demonstrated track record in structuring and negotiating off-take agreements

We offer:

  • US team members are entitled to medical benefits, life insurance, dental benefits, vision benefits and short- and long-term disability benefits. Lightsource bp pays for the first $800 of the monthly insurance premium. For staff members with dependents, Lightsource will cover 50% of the costs of covering dependents. The team member contributes the remainder of the premium, if any, through pre-tax payroll deduction.
  • Lightsource bp offers US team members immediate eligibility for a 401(k) plan, with a 3% nonelective employer contribution.
  • Our team members are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, calculated based on corporate, team and individual objectives. Team members in the US may receive an additional 50% of their annual bonus in a “retention bank” as well, available for withdrawal after three years of bonus awards have accrued.
  • Lightsource bp currently observes the following 11 holidays in the US: New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
  • US team members accrue 20 days of vacation and 15 days of sick leave annually. All team members are also eligible for COVID-19 leave.
  • Team members in the US enjoy a hybrid work environment.
  • US team members receive a monthly personal phone bill reimbursement of up to $100 and a monthly commuter benefit of up to $150. Team members also receive one-time wellness and remote work allowances
