Job Description


The primary function of this role is to provide Companion Sitter - or Direct Support and related service to the individual in their home.These tasks include:

  • Assisting with household chores ( cleaning, changing linens, trash disposal)
  • Assisting with walking, exercise or ambulation, if needed
  • Assisting with activities if daily living if needed ( toileting aid, bathing and personal grooming)
  • Assisting with grocery shopping
  • Assisting with preparing meals and snacks
  • Assistance with reminders and monitoring medication
  • Assist with scheduling appointments

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • CNA/ PCT certification preferred but not required
  • Must be familiar with and previously trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of RECENT experience in a health related field,day program services, home health care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Must be able to provide references and contacts of previous employers.
  • Above average communication skills: orally and written
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to transport individuals as needed
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Must be willing to write/type documentation
  • Must be familiar with Therap documentation system
  • Must be creative and willing to think outside the box
  • Must have the ability to utilize effective decision making
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with individuals and their family
  • Must be able to properly follow procedures and emergency protocol
  • Must be willing to complete FBI- Background check it will be required through GA Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities if offered the position
  • Must be willing to complete a TB test/ Physical
  • Must possess valid driver's license and insurance and willing to provide a Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Must be willing and able to follow ALL COVID-19 guidelines in accordance to recommendations from the CDC and the policies of GA DBHDD
