Your Role Overview

The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod is looking for people with great energy, talents, connections in the community and the ability to share their talents with adults with developmental disabilities.

We are looking to hire outstanding Direct Care Professionals in our Agency With Choice program to serve in towns including Marshfield, Plymouth, Bourne, Duxbury, Carver to find happiness in their own homes, in their personal relationships, and as contributing members of their community.

Your Responsibilities

Our amazing team of Direct Support Professionals support people with Developmental Disabilities to live as independently as possible, while attaining the assistance they need to access all of what their community has to offer. The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod believes that employees drive our success as an organization. We are seeking 1:1 direct support professional for adult men and women with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and medical complexities. Candidates will provide support and promote independent living both in the home setting and in the community. This might include assistance with ADL’s, social and leisure type activities, or transporting to and from appointments. You will do things like:

• Provide 1:1 support and assistance to promote independence.
• Work collaboratively with family and department team members in the home and community.
• Provide transportation within the community to support a variety of experiences such as shopping, appointments, outings, and transportation to and from work.
• Work directly with the individual providing supports to enhance all aspects of independent living including social/life/safety/and job skills.
• Assist in light household tasks as meal preparation, laundry & shopping as needed.
• Assist persons served with tasks of daily living as needed.
• Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) or Home Health Aid (HHA) experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Commitment to The Arc’s mission - to empower and support people with disabilities and their families to belong, contribute, and thrive.
• Comfort developing positive working relationships with diverse groups of people.
• Comfort utilizing technology to complete reports and communicate with staff.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• CPR/First Aid certified (Training will be provided)
• Availability to attend required 3-day orientation (Details will be provided – some trainings may be virtual due to COVID-19)

Physical Effort

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, sit, reach, and climb stairs.
• Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or the use of two-person lift.
