Building on a history of technological innovation, ESAB/AMI designs, develops, produces, and supports an advanced portfolio of fusion/pipe weld heads, power supplies, and other orbital related welding accessories.
Summary:
The CAD Drafter role will report to the Engineering Manager in our Denton, TX facility. The role assists a team of engineering staff to design components, parts & assemblies, and to create engineering drawings, engineering change orders, bills of materials, and other related engineering documentation. The CAD Engineer works with engineers and manufacturing personnel to create new designs & drawings, modify existing designs & drawings, document design changes, update bills of materials, and shepherd documents through the configuration management system.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Understanding of Solidworks/Draftsight software and be able to utilize all features to get projects done in a timely manner
  • Create final assembly, sub-assembly, and component drawings to meet customer specifications utilizing CAD.
  • Generate 3D/2D output files for Engineering team, Procurement team and vendor base
  • Prepare bills of materials and specifications when drawings are complete.
  • Full comprehension of GD&T; be able to assist designers when they hand off projects.
  • Recommends changes to refine and enhance products and process by applying continuous improvement principles and techniques
  • Ensure the initiation, accuracy, and maintenance of Engineering Change Notices (ECN's).
  • Perform troubleshooting to resolve basic software defects; IT activities such as system restarts and program updates
  • Drive and promote quality assurance within the team
  • Have a high attention to detail and see tasks through to completion
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
  • Using CAD software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to prepare technical drawings
  • Working with engineers and other professionals to produce drawings that meet their specifications
  • Writing related technical documents such as material lists and cost estimates
  • Ensuring that all drawings are accurate and meet industry standards
  • Maintaining a library of standard drawing templates
  • Updating existing drawings as new information becomes available
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in design, engineering, or similar field is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in 3D/2D modeling software (Solidworks, Draftsight)
  • Advanced knowledge of Engineering/Design software, such as Solidworks and Draftsight
  • Possess a firm grasp on the industry as a whole and stay up to date on evolving trends in Engineering technologies
  • Stellar attention to detail, teamwork abilities, communication skills, and organizational skills
  • Have strong planning and organization skills
  • Be a team player with good interpersonal and influencing skills
