Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVa's buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

We have an immediate need for a Custodial Services Supervisor, North Grounds, who is responsible for providing a clean and healthy environment for the University community. This position supervises up to 15 employees by performing safe critical housekeeping tasks. The incumbent maintains department expectations of providing high quality and consistent service by supervising, scheduling, and training the work force. The Custodial Services Supervisor maintains positive and professional relationships with facility occupants and staff, working in designated buildings throughout North Grounds, comprised of academic and research buildings. The incumbent may be exposed to different contaminants, such as biohazard, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids. This position works around equipment/machinery and includes standing on different surfaces, walking extensively, and climbing stairs.

As a supervisor, the employee must be able to adjust schedule as needed to meet business needs- scheduled working hours are 4:00pm - 12:30am.

Duties Include:
  • Develop and implement housekeeping work schedules for assigned areas. Maintain written records of work scheduled and completed.
  • Supervise members of housekeeping team and provide them with frequent and constructive feedback.
  • Ensure all required housekeeping projects are completed in a timely, professional manner.
  • Track purchases and update inventories.
  • Conduct and submit routine safety inspections.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.



Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in housekeeping or another service industry is required. Four or more years of experience in housekeeping, including the ability to demonstrate use of cleaning equipment and supplies, with experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is highly preferred.
  • Licensure: A valid driver's license must be maintained while in this position.



The selected candidate will need to complete the following background checks: Criminal, Sexual Offender and DMV.

Physical Demands:

This position works around equipment/machinery, and includes standing on different surfaces, walking extensively, stooping and bending as well as moderate lifting and climbing stairs.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $21-23.50/hour, plus an additional $1/hour for shift differential.
