Charlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) is our area's largest not-for-profit provider of community-based behavioral health care, offering a full range of mental health and substance use services in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, North Port, Sarasota, and DeSoto and Lee Counties. Position Summary

CBHC has a unique opportunity for a Crisis Counselor providing outreach and support services to individuals and families in the community following hurricane Ian. Crisis Counselors will work as part of a team providing community based services working with individuals and families impacted by the storm to improve access to trauma response services and available community resources.

Services include:

• Assessment of needs,
• Development of service plans based on identified needs,
• Links to appropriate community service agencies,
• Program representation in the community,
• Support for the individual and natural support system,
• Presentations to community groups regarding disaster reactions, coping skills, and stress management.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent,
• Experience living through natural disaster(s) preferred,
• Experience with crisis support preferred,
• Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures,
• Computer proficiency,
• Attention to detail,
• Ability to pass Level II Background clearance, drug test (CBHC is a drug free workplace),
• Valid FL driver’s license, insurance, and a safe driving record,
• Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.)
