We Are Inspired to Serve. Join us! Covenant Living of Bixby is part of a nation wide family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities and Bixby is seeking a Per-Diem Cook. This Position will Prepare meals according to planned menus, monitor methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and all equipment in the kitchen area.This position uses standardized recipes to achieve proper quantities and consistent high quality and must maintain a high standard of sanitation within the department and ensure requirements are met in accordance with Covenant Living standards as well as federal, state, and local regulation.
In this role, the Cook will:
Check production and prep sheets for daily assignments and with Dining Director for any special assignments.
Coordinate food preparation and meal service.
Prepare, season, cook and serve for assigned meal times: ensure appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards & menus.
Set up lunch/Dinner for residents according to steam table diagram.
Follow cleaning schedules and perform daily cleaning duties as needed in main kitchen & food areas.
Properly record all food, label & dates assist in recieving and storing food and supplies.
Complete all prep items according to prep sheet.
Take and record temperatures. Correct any temperature discrepancy immediately.
Plate food for residents as ordered with attention to appearance and garnish.
Attend In-Service programs and complete monthly compliance training required.
The ideal candidate will have:
High school education or equivalent.
One year of food service experience.
Current state sanitation certificate.
Ability to read, write and speak in English effectively to use recipes, prepare meals and communicate effectively.
Ability to perform math to adjust recipes and convert measurements.
Understanding of standard food measurements and equivalents.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and follow tasks through to completion.
Ability to work and lead Dining Staff within the department and communicate with other departments.
Willingness to work and interact with older adults..
