Job Summary:

The Controller will plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting department functions. This position will help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Ensure that General Ledger activity is recorded accurately and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Establish and monitor (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards.
  • Work with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Coordinate with the CFO to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements and AAA National standards.
  • Member of the Connect Suite (AAA proprietary point-of-sale system) workgroup.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the Accounting Department including cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, inventory control, and revenue recognition.
  • Manage and support the accounting team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA license preferred, not required.
  • Minimum 5 years related accounting experience.
  • Two years supervisory experience in an accounting department.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Time management skills required, must be able to prioritize and be a self-starter with ability to forge relationships, both internal and external.
  • Understanding of workflow processes and the ability to analyze their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • General knowledge of accounting and ERP systems and networks, Microsoft Dynamics preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with AAA’s company values of exhibiting the highest quality standards in all endeavors.
