Department Overview:
The Carbone Lab at the Oregon Health & Science University invites applications for a Computational Biologist 1. The recruited person will work under supervision of the PI and a computational staff scientist to contribute to a newly funded project that aims to generate epigenetic maps from non-human primate tissues during development. This includes performing bioinformatic analysis of next generation sequence data from Hi-C, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and RNA-seq assays, using established pipelines and/or open source software. This position requires a hardworking individual who has excellent attention to details and is capable of working in a highly collaborative environment while contributing to multiple projects simultaneously. Solid bioinformatic computational skills are required for data analysis and documentation. Good oral and writing skills are required for summarizing and presenting results to colleagues and collaborators. Ability and willingness to take on some duties as Linux system and website administrator is a plus.
Function/Duties of Position:
  • Analyze data that will be generated through funded U24 project
  • Linux system and website administration
  • Participate in meetings
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related field AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computational Biology or related field AND 6 years of relevant experience.
