The full continuum of River Edge Behavioral Health services provides state-of-the-art treatment and support services for more than 13,000 children, youth, families, and adults annually, who experience mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders, or developmental disabilities.
The River Edge Recovery Center is a residential alternative to or diversion from inpatient hospitalization. We offer 24-hour walk-in outpatient services, a 23-hour observation unit, crisis residential psychiatric stabilization, and medically monitored detoxification services.
River Edge is in search of a full-time Certified Peer Specialist to provide services in our Adult and Child & Adolescent Units.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday - 7 am to 3 pm and every other weekend.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides a broad range of paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and their families, participates in treatment team planning, and performs crisis intervention.
  • Assists in dealing with the personal and social problems of clients.
  • May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services.
  • Prepares lesson plans for group topics, maintains medical records, and documents daily group notes.
  • Performs case management duties, and group skills training and refers clients to needed services and resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • COVID Vaccinated.
  • Candidates must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness or a dual diagnosis of mental illness and addictive disease, and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person with mental illness (current or former consumer of mental health services).
  • Applicants must hold a GED or High School diploma.
  • In addition, applicants must demonstrate strong reading comprehension and written communication skills.
  • You must have demonstrated experience with leadership, advocacy, or governance, and be well-grounded in your recovery (one year between diagnosis and application to the training).
  • Must meet the Qualifications for Peer Specialist as defined by the DBHDD Peer Specialist Project.
