Broadway Ob/Gyn, a Division of Southern New England is in need of a full-time Medical Assistant for our Providence and Johnston location.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of medical practice environment and issues relative to assisting and rendering patient care.
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and/or treatment procedures as specialty area dictates
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe, work environment
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of procedures as dictated by specialty area
  • Ability to help lift, and assist patients as needed
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situation
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, apply guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with patients, physicians, staff and management
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED

Minimum 1 year experience as Medical Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare patient for examination including: weight, blood pressure, simple urinalysis, finger stick hemoglobin, throat culture and pregnancy test
  • Prepare exam and/or treatment room with necessary equipment and supplies for examination and/or treatment
  • Under Physician supervision, draw up and administer injections
  • Clean and stock examination and procedure rooms including, washing exam tables.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to OSHA regulations
  • Assist in scheduling with tests and treatments as requested
  • Obtain patient information as directed by Physician to update GYN History and Social History
  • Submit Prescriptions as prescribed by Physician through escribe in AthenaClinicals
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Attend required meetings
  • Perform related miscellaneous tasks as requested
  • Complete correspondence including: TDI Forms, STD Forms, FMLA Forms and scan into patient EMR.
  • Handle correspondence including: patient letters and recall management
