SUMMARY


Reporting to the Chief Engineer and Director Plant Operations, and according to established procedures and job specifications, performs various carpentry duties such as building millwork, hanging doors, lock sets, constructing partitions, and hanging ceilings and lead on floor install.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Responding to requests from various departments, does minor project work to repair shelves, desks and similar articles which are constructed from wood. Cuts, planes, routes, sands, and joins materials as required to construct or repair requested articles. Utilizes table saw, bench sander, router, Sabre saw and other hand and power tools.
  • Performs project installation on cabinetry, partitions, and other duties such as hanging paneling, roughing walls, hanging ceilings, hanging pictures, bulletin boards, accessory containers; utilizes hammers, saws, chisels etc.
  • Measures, cuts, and applies surface laminates to newly constructed surfaces such as counter and desktops and tables.
  • Coordinates work with other trades on minor construction projects to assure completion of total project. Works within specified time frames to complete projects totally.
  • Follows hospital and departmental safety practices.
  • Conforms to establish standards,
  • Has skill set to change/install locksets and doors.
  • Has skill set to conduct demolition operations.
  • Has skill set to build walls and partitions with drywall to current code and building standards
  • Has skill set to build hard and drop ceilings.
  • Has ability to estimate time and material for project estimation.
  • Has ability to install all flooring types
  • Has ability to install millwork and countertops.
  • Has ability to create access panels where required.
  • Has ability to perform fire stopping tasks.
  • Ability and knowledge of safe PPE use.
  • Able to work with carpet and carpet squares to repair and install.
  • Able to conduct ceramic tile repairs and installation.
  • Able to conduct basic demolition and fire stopping projects.
  • Assists with snow and ice removal during the winter seasons.
  • Assists with furniture and equipment moving and relocation ass needed.

  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Technical training or equivalent experience on floor install and carpentry. Will have 7 to 10 years of experience as a carpenter and have worked in a hospital environment. The ideal candidate will also have been a small business owner with estimating time and materials, or equivalent Estimating experience with construction company or larger company.
  • Level of knowledge equivalent that ordinarily acquired through completion of one year of advanced technical training.
  • Journeymen equivalent technical training
