Position: Dishwasher/ Busser

Supervised by: Director of Food Operations
Rate of Pay: Starting at $15.50/ Hr. + Tips - DOQ
FLSA: Non-Exempt: Hourly / Regular; Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY
The Dishwasher/Busser Team Member must have the ability to be able to multi-task between the front and back of the restaurant. When on the restaurant floor, the Team Member must be able to communicate with the guests and assist the servers in cleaning their table. As a Dishwasher/Busser, the Team Member must maintain all kitchen work areas and make sure all restaurant equipment is clean, sanitized and in useable condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive guest service to restaurant guests.
  • Cleaning of tables in restaurant and returning bus tubs to dishwasher area for cleaning.
  • Unloads trucks and transfers supplies and food between storage and work areas.
  • Report any problems or irregularities (accidents, breakage, faulty equipment, food and/or supply shortages, etc.) to Manager.
  • Transport garbage from all kitchen areas to trash receptacle and dumpster.
  • Follow all cleaning schedules in designated areas (kitchen storerooms, walk-ins, and other designated assigned areas).
  • Breakdown, feed, catch and properly sort all dishes and flatware as it is brought to the dish area.
  • Assist Cooks in food preparation, restocking and putting away orders using the FIFO rotation system. Assist wait staff in other duties to help serve our customers more effectively.
  • Learn and use proper procedures and maintenance schedules for operating dishwasher and other cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
  • Assist Cooks in closing kitchen by cleaning dishwasher area, empty garbage and sanitize and reline containers.
  • Report any problems or irregularities (accidents, breakage, faulty equipment, food and/or supply shortages, etc.) to manager.
  • Follow policies and procedures on appearance and wearing the proper uniform.
  • Must be able to work any shift including splits, evenings, weekends, and holidays according to established procedures and business needs.
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-service meetings.
  • Help keep casino neat and clean. During tours and while at duty station, employee will assist in enforcement of casino cleanliness policy by picking up trash and depositing it in receptacle and assisting in the cleanliness of the casino.
  • Sustain a courteous attitude and pleasant demeanor in all relations including guests and colleagues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma, HSED or GED is required.
  • No experience required (we are willing to train the right person).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to work as a Dishwasher/Busser.
  • Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Food Handler’s Card is mandatory within first 30 days of employment.
  • Must pass Title 31 within first 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to communicate in English with customers, co-workers and Management is required.
  • Must be able to use the cleaning equipment/chemicals including but not limited to, Floor Scrubbers, Degreaser, Multi-Purpose, Enzymes, etc.
  • Must be able to operate all kitchen industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to work inside and maneuver throughout the kitchen area.
  • Must possess ability to interact with the public and fellow Team Members, demonstrating respect, tact, courtesy.
  • An excellent appearance is required and must always be in proper uniform and always be friendly and courteous. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
Able to hear and speak effectively in a noisy environment.
  • Must be able to work various schedules, on an as-needed basis; as work schedules could vary and will involve day, evening, or nighttime hours during the week and/or on weekends.
  • Must meet requirement to qualify for a Bishop Paiute Gaming License. Must pass an extensive background check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully; the Team Member must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to operate industrial machinery and carry loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in hot, humid environment and on your feet for scheduled shifts.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving whole body.
  • Bending and stooping.
  • Standing and walking for duration of shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Noise levels are moderate to loud. Work involves frequent exposure to extreme heat and cold, cooking fumes and odors. Special hazards include sharp knives and utensils, open flames and hazardous food materials and cleaning solutions.
