Position Summary:

UA Land Management seeks a highly motivated and skilled Business Manager to provide technical assistance to the Director and staff of the Land Management Office. This position manages specific projects from inception to completion. Additional duties include writing grant proposals and creating reports on grant awards for federal agencies.

Duties:

1-60Project Management: Oversee office project management, including digital marketing to help boost sales and leases of UA lands (website), business portal (Land Management database), workflow management (monday.com), and UA Land’s modernization project. Assist in leading student hires.Essential
2-20Business Manager/Technical Support. Prepare quarterly and annual documents for the Director's report to the BOR and Executive Management. Help plan, create, and prepare documents for distribution at public workshops and fairs, conferences, government agencies, and private businesses. Attend public meetings as UALM representative. Create reports from those events and make digital and physical marketing materials for wide dissemination on resource development and real estate sales and leases.Essential
3-15Administrative. Provide administrative support to LM staff and other System Office Executives located at the Bragaw Office Building. Support includes travel and procurement duties for the Anchorage LM Office, ensuring strict compliance with applicable policies and procedures; front desk responsibilities including interacting with the public and answering main phone lines; event and meeting coordination; HR recruitment; staff training sessions; and problem solving with computer software and databases.Essential
4-5Grant Writing & Development. Develop ideas for potential new grants and write proposals. Identify areas for additional funding. Conduct research for each new grant opportunity and analyze the data. Present the findings and the proposed grant application to the Director and LM staff; then submit to the applicable agency. In response to each grant award, create and submit reports to the applicable federal agency and prepare detailed reports for distribution.Essential

Land Management's (LM) primary role is to convert the University's grant land assets to investable income to support the University's educational mission and prudently manage land dedicated for educational purposes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn BOR policies, state regulations (e.g. AAC), and federal laws with regard to UA land and resource development and sales.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and create comprehensive reports from data, Business Plans, and Feasibility Assessments.
  • Ability to recognize and troubleshoot non-compliance issues with regard to LM policies on UA lands.
  • Basic knowledge of the granting process and federal reporting agency requirements.
  • Form self-conducted research data, create persuasive grant proposals and identify additional funding sources for the same.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Advanced computer and database skills to create professional documents for publication and the ability to train others in that process.

Typical Experience:
This position requires 6 or more years of progressive business administrative experience, with executive level administrative experience preferred.

Required Education or Training:

Bachelor's degree in related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree preferred.



Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
