The YMCA of Central Texas is seeking a Bus Driver for our Summer Camps in Georgetown, TX.

The Bus Driver provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, while incorporating YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Georgetown Family YMCA, the bus driver is responsible for the successful implementation and completion of the following tasks:

  • Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures, and state laws
  • Maintain safety precautions when participants are boarding and departing the bus
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of children in their care
  • Creates a safe environment in which others feel welcome and respected
  • Promotes safety at all times and keeps first aid supplies fully stocked
  • Absolutely ensures that the bus is empty of passengers at the end of each shift
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, participants and other staff at all levels of the organization
  • Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed by passengers
  • Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and records all information, such as gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms
  • Cleans out bus each day
  • Must be reliable with a good attendance record
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings, as required
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver License; Larger capacity vans/buses require a commercial driver’s license during employment
  • Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus)
  • At least one-year work experience as a school bus driver preferred
  • Basic computer skills are required to record time & attendance and read email
  • Complete Child Abuse Prevention training prior to first day of work
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 30 days of hire date
  • Must complete required training hours on an annual basis
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds

Pay Rate: $15.00 to $16.00/hour
