The Chester County Facilities department is seeking an individual to fulfill the position of Building Custodian. This is a full-time position that is responsible for performing routine cleaning and housekeeping work to ensure that the County owned buildings maintain a clean and presentable appearance.

• Clean offices, restrooms, lobbies, hallways, etc.
• Utilize Community Service help to obtain optimum cleanliness.
• Vacuum offices and common areas (maintain clean and dust-free floors and carpeting).
• Sweep, mop, and buff hard surface floors.
• Provide trash and recycling removal.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock with soap and paper products daily by supervisor.
• Provide dusting as needed.
• Perform other duties, tasks, and special projects, as required.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• One to six months of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
• Ability to follow checklists provided by supervisor.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to follow procedures as directed for using cleaning and chemicals.
• Ability to read and understand instructions on labels (cleaning products).
• Ability to operate certain machinery for cleaning purposes.
• Manual dexterity (sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers).

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

• Ability to operate equipment (buffer, vacuum, carpet extractor, etc.).
• 6 months of experience preferred.
• Flexibility.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to establish priorities.
• Able to carry tasks to completion.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills are required for this position ability to check email. complete timesheets, work evaluations. and trainings

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach or work with arms above shoulders; bend, twist or rotate at the waist; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; climb stairs; push, pull, lift or carry items; work with machinery; work with an uncommon level of noise; taste or smell; and talk or hear.
