Behavioral Health Associate III - Inpatient

At Southwood Psychiatric Hospital we specialize in working with children and adolescents aged 4 to 18 for short term crisis stabilization program. We serve both male and female populations that are in an acute stage of psychiatric illness and are at imminent risk of harm to themselves or others.

Behavioral Health Associate (BHA) responsibilities:

  • Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment.
  • Responsible for conducting safety checks and ensuring that supervision is conducted at 15 minute intervals.
  • Document timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in patient's medical record.
  • Interact routinely with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
  • Engage patients in interactions, group therapy and activities designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals and increase therapeutic coping skills.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation. Complete paperwork as required on incidents and events that may take place on the unit.

Job Requirements:

· A bachelors degree in the Human Services Field.

· Minimum of 2 years experience in the Mental Health setting.

· One year of Supervisor Experience

· One year of Training / Staff Development

· Knowledge of group dynamics preferred.

· Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) must be maintained to include annual refresher.

· CPR certification renewed bi-annually or upon expiration of certification.

· Must be knowledgeable of the normal developmental stages and behaviors for age group of assigned individuals.

· Maintains competence in identified universal, core and critical competencies.

· Valid PA Act 33/34 clearances

· Must meet job competencies within 90 days of hire
