Optim Orthopedics is seeking a full-time Athletic Trainer to serve as an Athletic Trainer Physician Extender to be part of our elite medical team!

The Athletic Trainer Physician Extender can leave behind the long hours working in the heat, wind and rain and come join our team of fellowship trained orthopedic surgeons in a clinical setting. Optim Orthopedics not only provides exceptional healthcare to our community, but is also active throughout the community. We serve as the team physicians for the Savannah Bananas, Savannah Ghost Pirates (professional hockey), Georgia Southern University, local high schools, and many locally run events. This position will have the ability to assist in coverage of the Bananas, Ghost Pirates and other local events.

The Athletic Trainer Physician Extender will be an integral part of the medical team and patient experience. This position will work hand in hand with our physicians to...

• Assist in the intake, examination, and treatment of patients under the direction of their supervising physician.
• Assists with clinic responsibilities such as drawing up injections, dressing changes, casting, suture removal, and other patient care needs.
• Provide prompt and professional follow ups for patients regarding their clinical care questions.
• Review and prep the physicians schedule and work with them to maximize patient flow
• Interact with patients while performing initial intake, examination, and primary treatment of the patients.
• Assist with other Optim team members to obtain required patient forms and authorizations.
• Have the ability to assist with as needed coverage of local events such as the Savannah Bananas, Savannah United Soccer, and others.

Education, Certifications, Licensure, and/or Experience: Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training if obtained prior to 2022. Georgia and/or South Carolina Athletic Trainer license or licensure eligible. BOC certification.
