Assistant Gardner Job at Keswick Hall and Club
POSITION PURPOSE
The Assistant Gardener Position coordinates with Director of Landscape Management in all areas of grounds maintenance responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with Director of Landscape Management in all areas of grounds maintenance responsibilities.
- Supervise employees on grounds staff as directed by Director of Landscape Management.
- Assist in training and directing work responsibilities with all staff.
- Apply control measures for insects, diseases, weeds, pests, and fertility.
- Maintain records for all applications.
- Assist in all cultural programs for flowerbeds, turf, and hedges.
- Oversee daily maintenance of all containers at hotel and club.
- Keep shop and equipment clean and tidy.
- Assist with seasonal decorations and floral arrangements as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE
Previous horticulture, garden, tree knowledge, operating equipment or experience preferred
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong customer relations skills.
Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Must have a valid commercial applicators license in Ornamentals (3B) and Turf (3A).
Pesticide license.
Valid drivers license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Lifting will be required. (Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs).
Ability to do physical work in a variety of weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat and cold.
