Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Architectural Technical Sales (ATS) position is to accelerate sales growth. This will be achieved by serving as the single point of contact for our field sales and agency sales teams for Mark, and Peerless brands. The intention is to make the ATS position the single source for all relevant pre to post sales questions and information (ie. submittals, pricing, go or no go questions) for the brand and to coordinate with associated teams within the ATS group to quickly respond and facilitate an order. The primary KPI and Metric for the team will be sales. As we build more tools, competency and structure within the team we will do so with the intention that ATS, with its client centric service model, will accelerate growth and profitability.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Engage in system-wide process and systems improvements activities centered around speed in the order process to include: Submittal generation, takeoffs, breakouts, BOM and CI code generation, Post Sales close time etc. Create a sustainable best in class service model!
  • Directly interfaces with agents and specifiers to research and aid in the determination of product feasibility and application needs.
  • Coordinates with engineering on the feasibility of RFA-MOD requests, including pre-order RFA submittals, cross-section drawings, photometric files and samples as needed.
  • Utilizes Configurator and system tools to facilitate submittal generation (RFA)
  • Responsible for coordinating RFA-MOD pricing including working with engineering, AQD and others as required.
  • Assists Agents in interpretation of RCP's, fixture counts and preparation of fixture schedules.
  • Technical expert for Mark and Peerless brands, available to answer questions (calls, emails, or Technical Support direct asks) for Specifiers, Contractors, and Agents.
  • Coordinates with Engineering to ensure samples and final products are built to spec.
  • Coordinates with regional Project Managers and Application Engineers on complex and/or large projects.
  • Project manage orders ensuring on-time performance is met. Coordinates with POM partners (FFM, BP) on high profile and white glove projects to ensure we meet on-site date and design requirements.
  • Supports sales, including occasional travel, by building relationships with the agency network.
  • Order Management including updates to Agents on Mark and Peerless orders regarding order statuses of Submittal required, Order lines active (Engineering complete), Head Unit optimization, late orders, etc.
  • Product and relevant Lean (ABS) training.


Experience (minimum experience required)

  • 3 years within the lighting industry, but 7 preferred
  • Bachelors in engineering, business or finance, Engineering/Architectural degree preferred
  • Should have strong technical aptitude and ability to learn fast
  • Exceptional relevant experience with a strong academic background acceptable
  • Understand contractor way of installation, understand the specifier language and can discuss with EC on project requirement
  • Strong understanding of product application
  • Overall understanding of contractors, specifiers and engineers and can take voice-of-customer to recommend an acceptable solution
  • Business Acumen - strong desire to grow sales
  • Lean / six sigma + continuous improvement background with proven track record of continuous improvements
  • Project management (on-time performance, quality)
  • Ability to work on East Coast time to support our Agents in that part of the country

  • Strong sales growth background either from direct efforts or in support of a team
  • Demonstrated self-starter - exceptional communication and negotiation skill set
  • Capable of developing win / win scenarios
