Appeals Officer Job at University of Utah
The Appeals Officer will coordinate with the appeals supervisor to complete appeals in a timely manner in accordance with Commuter Services policies and procedures.
This is a 100% telecommuting position. Applicants must reside in Utah. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID-19 Telecommuting Agreement.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and adjudicate ticket appeals using existing guidelines and procedures
- Serve as primary point of contact with customers and other departments as needed
- Educate customers about parking regulations and options
- Collaborates with leadership on other tasks as needed
- Problem Solving
- Familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and develop new practices
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks
- A certain degree of creativity and initiative is required
Minimum Qualifications
Three years related parking enforcement experience, or equivalency; a valid Utah’s Driver’s License; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.
Must be able to pass a background review.
This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Preferences
Familiarity with parking at the University of Utah including lot names, numbers, locations, as well as parking regulations.
Experience with de-escalation and difficult conversations.
Demonstrated experience maintaining workload and initiative with limited supervision.
