What is AmeriCorps? This is an AmeriCorps position. AmeriCorps is a national service program, in which individuals dedicate their time to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Central Georgia Council’s AmeriCorps Mentors in Scouting program is a 10-month commitment, in which members serve in elementary and middle, and high schools and other local nonprofits. Over the 10-month period (September - June), members serve part-time and receive a semi-monthly living stipend and an education award once their service term is complete. Members will be dedicated and required to serve up to 30 hours weekly to successfully complete the program, AmeriCorps is often called the domestic Peace Corps.
