Work Environment & Format

The Agri-business Underwriter role is a hybrid position, and candidates may be considered from any of the five states in which we do business: Washington State, California, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada.

Job Overview

As an Agri Business Underwriter, you will be responsible to review applications for Agri business insurance, assessing overall risk attributes, appropriate pricing, and determining correct fit within Company guidelines and policies. This position is responsible for building strong agency relationships to develop new business opportunities; retain a strong renewal book of business and manage the overall book to profitability metrics. The Underwriter must adhere to underwriting guidelines for service and authority.

Requirements

Knowledge of:

• Agri Business Insurance Underwriting principles, procedures, rules, and regulations

• Rating plans (ISO or similar) and commercial lines coverages

• Knowledge of social, economic and competitive aspects of territory assigned

• National and local business conditions and trends

• Underwriting and marketing philosophy and procedure

Education and Experience:

College degree (or equivalent experience) and 2 plus years of Agri business underwriting experience writing small to medium sized commercial risks.

Completion of technical insurance coursework preferred, such as AFIS, CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM or CIC.
