Title: Aeropace Buyer I

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $48,000 - $70,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)

About the Role:

The Aerospace Buyer I you will be responsible for negotiating the purchase of goods and services from suppliers, performing/participating in sourcing initiatives and tactical sourcing requirements. Work closely with the Program Managers in sourcing initiatives and RFP/RFQ processes and negotiations. Fulfill internal order requisitions via existing inventory and min/max fulfillment. Orders for procurement from approved suppliers. Responsible for administering and managing removed assets to ensure they are processed for outside services and or other dispositions (NCR's).

We are looking an Aerospace Buyer I that will support one of the following programs:

  • INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models.
  • SDC: NASA has selected Tendeg to develop a large rectangular aperture deployable antenna for a Surface Deformation and Change mission. The baseline antenna is 7x1.4m and operates at C-band and will need to demonstrate TRL6 by the end of 2022.   • 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO to lunar applications.

What you will do:

  • Support and coordinate with engineers for the purchasing activities in procuring materials, parts, components, and services for aerospace mechanisms.
  • Actively maintains a healthy supplier portfolio, seeks out new supplier relationships, monitors existing relationships, proactively participates in problem resolution and schedules site visits with key suppliers as appropriate. Completes source selection and vendor qualification due diligence prior to issuance of RFPs.
  • Negotiates contracts with wholesalers and suppliers.
  • Assist in ensuring contracts with vendors are consistent with company objectives
  • Support negotiations with suppliers to achieve the best price, quality and schedule
  • Perform vendor audits and site visits in coordination with Management (Program, Purchasing)
  • Be familiar with aerospace designs, drawing, specifications and purchasing practices
  • Perform cost analysis and recommend changes as results dictate
  • Manage communication lines with managers, suppliers, and procurement departments
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new Technologies
  • Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards orders to suppliers.
  • Purchase goods and services of appropriate quality and correct quantity from qualified suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve delivery and quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and approves bills for payment.
  • Classifies priority regulations.
  • Places required materials on order to maintain a continuous supply of inventory for their assigned products.
  • Percentage of time spent travelling 10%
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Key Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of applicable experience
  • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Economics or related preferably
  • At least two years of inventory management and ERP software experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exposure to mechanical engineering design software for aerospace structures and mechanisms. Preferred CAD experience is Solidworks.
  • Customer and internal interfaces. Meetings, reports and professional presentations will be required using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exposure and knowledge of aerospace materials (metallics, composites, adhesives, bonding) that are typical for precision structures and space missions.
