Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all HR transactional processes (staff, faculty, OPS, FWS) for the department. Creates job openings, initiates personnel actions, assists new employees with onboarding, completes I-9 forms, and submits all supporting documentation to complete hiring processes. Serve as a liaison to Central HR. Enter and monitor FACET reporting for the department. Monitor cost center reports and activities list for accuracy.
  • Responsible for providing administrative professional support services to the CARE Leadership Team. Responsible for related duties and special assignments as requested by the Assistant Dean/ Director. Interprets University policies and provides recommendations based on knowledge of the organization's business administrative objectives. Provide communication support to the department by managing departmental e-mail accounts. Serve as subject matter expert on service excellence in higher education.
  • Serves as Travel Representative for designated units in CARE. Responsible for travel authorizations and processes expense reports for faculty and staff. Advises administration regarding the best travel methods and trains faculty and staff, ensuring compliance with travel policies. Resolve issues with the Travel Department. Manages related travel records. Serve as a backup for departmental purchasing.
  • Serves as a backup for HR-related processes for the Division of Undergraduate Studies. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: post-high-school education may substitute at a comparable rate.)

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve files from active or archive sources. Basic filing practices to include numeric and alphabetic systems.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and etiquette.

Preferred


Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Soft Money Funded Position


This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

Criminal Background Check


This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
