The Gilbert Residence provides basic nursing care to 32 residents. Supportive Living, Assisted Living and Specialized Dementia care to 58 residents. We carry a long tradition of excellence by providing compassionate and dignified care.

The Activity Assistant assists the Activity Director to provide group and individual activities

for the residents. Duties will involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include some weekends, evenings, and holidays. Tasks also will involve record keeping, attention to the environment, use of supplies and equipment, and maintenance of storage areas.

The Gilbert Residence is a smoke free campus. Smoking or the use of tobacco products is prohibited in or on all Gilbert Residence buildings, grounds, parking lots, vehicles, or sidewalks adjacent to the property.

DUTIES

  • Facilitate group activities as directed by Life Enrichment Director
  • Assist with group activities, outings, 1:1 interventions
  • Assist documentation and other tasks/projects as requested by Life Enrichment Director/as available.
  • Assist with the organizing, planning and implementation of programs (group and one on one) that promote resident well-being and service residents of varying cognitive and physical abilities
  • Assist in promoting and communicating programs and events to residents and families
  • Assist in supervising volunteers and students
  • Assist on resident outings, including but not limited to assisting residents to seats, securing wheelchairs, and driving 15 passenger bus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with geriatric residents with physical and/or cognitive deficits preferred
  • Must be upbeat and high energy
  • Posses patience and be able to adapt when necessary
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Posses ability to take initiative and be reliable
  • Ability to drive facility bus for outings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to follow scheduled plans.
  • Respect for the rights of the residents including the right to privacy and the right to make choices.
  • Maintains composure in stressful situations.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
