SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Activities Coordinator, primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overall responsibilities of the activity program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Schedules activities for the duration of each month, including social, cultural and recreational activities (including the scheduling of outside services for residents (i.e.; podiatry, blood pressure checks, etc.)
2. Prepares monthly activities, calendar and newsletter, distributing calendar/newsletter to residents and family members/first contacts.
3. Responsible for activity petty cash fund, keeping a record of all cash receipts, expenditures and balances on a monthly basis.
4. Responsible for maintaining activity resource file.
5. Responsible for decorating for holidays and special themes.
6. Responsible for ordering/purchasing of supplies needed to operate activities department.
7. Acts as a liaison between manager, residents and families.
8. Responsible for communicating with staff all pertinent information and schedule of weekend activities.
9. Runs or oversees group activities.
10. Posts activities on a daily basis.
11. Drives or escorts resident on group/community outings.
12. Attends community meetings and departmental meetings as necessary.
13. Oversees volunteer program.
14. Assists in keeping sign out sheets and room availability roster updated.
15. Notifies manager of emergency situations.
16. Notes areas or articles in need of repair and reports to maintenance, completing maintenance request forms as necessary.
17. Notes the well-being or changes of residents on a daily basis and reports any changes or incidents to the manager.
18. Completes incident reports as necessary.
19. Other duties as needed or requested.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience in working with the elderly and/or in an activity setting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret facility forms, signs and product instructions.
Ability to speak clearly and interpret verbal communication.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Telephone skills
Problem solving and logic skills
Computer skills
Ability to obtain CDL license
Sincere desire to work with the elderly
