The Role:
This position is a key member of the Plant Accounting team, reporting to the Plant Accounting Consultant – Lead. The position plays a crucial role in collaborating with the Plant Accounting team and Subsidiary Accounting teams, owning fixed asset and capital lease accounting and serves as a Subject Matter Expert for Plant Accounting. This position will work closely with other accounting teams, various business departments, and upper management. Day to Day:

Responsible for fixed asset accounting activities including asset creation, cost transfers, capitalized interest and taxes, depreciation and retirements.
Creates and monitors projects in Construction Work in Progress to help ensure timely placement of projects into service.
Accounts for the Company’s leases including recording the recognition of lease assets and liabilities and amortization of the balances.
Prepares general ledger reconciliations and performs SOX controls to help ensure accurate financial reporting.
Performs accounting research and analyses as necessary and presents recommendations to Management.
Assists with setting and periodic review of Capital Accounting policies.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reports supporting operational, financial and regulatory reporting.
Prepares documentation to support General Rate Case and Depreciation Studies.
Collaborates with IT&S to create and test new fixed asset accounts, confirming the accounting is properly reflected.
Consults with Technical Accounting to ensure new or modified lease agreements are appropriately classified and accounted for.
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Capital Accounting for Engineering, Operations, IT&S, Finance, Rates & Regulatory Affairs, etc.
Evaluates processes for continual improvement and operates as a SME for the fixed assets accounting systems
Contributes to a strong team environment.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
CPA certificate is preferred.
Minimum five years of applied accounting experience.
Experience in a utility operation and knowledge of standard utility accounting and public utility reporting and filing requirements are highly desired.
Experience using SAP or another general ledger or other financial software system is preferred.
Experience using PowerPlan Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting software is preferred
Attention to detail and analytical skills are required, including the ability to critically think and apply knowledge to business requirements, including understanding the impacts of decisions made.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with limited supervision.
Requires outstanding ethical standards and values consistent with those of the Company.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally across an organization and in a team environment.

Base salary range: $90,350.00 - $128,750.00 per year, depending on qualifications
Annual Target Incentive: Level 3 , 9.5% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% – 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
