Position Highlights

The School of Natural Resources and the Environment (SNRE) is hiring an Accountant to support financial and administrative tasks for the School. The Accountant will submit financial transactions, account review and reconciliation and supervise students. A great deal of planning and efficiency will be required to be successful in this role. Highly qualified candidates will be organized, eager and professional. The Accountant must be able to work individually and in a team to provide prompt and accurate information to administration, faculty, students and staff. This position is one of six team members in the SNRE Business office and works under the supervision of the Grant and Contract Administrator.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Submit position changes such as FTE, compensation, account distribution as needed.
  • Process purchase order and assist with sub-awards.
  • Initiate and reconcile, internal billings, travel documents, purchases, GECs, SETs and other financial documents as needed.
  • Supervise students who reconcile PCards and initiates travel and reimbursements.
  • Review and approve PCards, travel and reimbursements.
  • Review and reconcile Voyager receipts and payments.
  • Review and reconcile department accounts.
  • Reconcile department course fees.
  • Process cash receipts.
  • Maintain department voyager card information and submit annual fleet data report.
  • Process supplemental compensation for faculty.
  • Reconcile monthly FedEx charges.
  • Assist with department inventory.
  • Assist with department events as needed.
  • Assist with report development on SNRE dashboard as needed.
  • Assist with post-award grants and contracts as needed.
  • Additional duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of standard accounting practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience reconciling account expenditures.
  • Experience with reconciling purchases.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the University of Arizona systems.
  • Experience with SmartSheets program.
