Job Summary:

The Accountant I position is responsible for day-to-day duties associated with managing the financial obligations for the company. They will provide timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and other accounting analysis with minimum supervision. This position provides analysis and inputs to ensure accuracy and correct accounting interpretation, reconcile general ledger account balances and to investigate and resolve reconciling items. Must have ability to extract, compile, analyze and maintain financial and operational data for internal metrics reporting. Will generate monthly, quarterly and year end reporting and validate information for management and required DCAA submissions. This is also a learning role to use existing knowledge and newly acquired skills related to the DCAA Government Accounting domain. The Accountant I will use critical thinking to solve problems, exercise analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the day-to-day finance and accounting operations
  • Regularly assist Payroll Clerk in Processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis in accordance with payroll schedule
  • Maintain company credit cards and perform reconciliations
  • Assist management in month end accounting close process
  • Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare fixed asset and accumulated depreciation amortization schedules
  • Help maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Able to reprioritize tasks quickly with accuracy
  • Periodically assist in travel arrangements
  • Post customer payments in AR on a weekly basis
  • AP Entry/Research
  • Keep record of Business Tax licenses and payments and calendar the same
  • Help in preparation of Month end Closing. Assist in the preparation of audit material as required, work with the auditor as needed.
  • Involvement in various accounting projects as directed by management.
  • Monitor all aspects related to financial health including general ledger account balances, accounting vendor performance, research of financial issues, FAS & CAS related issues and a variety of other tasks associated with the Accounting Department.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance or accounting or 3+ years’ experience working with AR / AP
  • Demonstrated use of strong analytical skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Payroll experience / Wage & Labor Laws
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Google Suite. Keen attention to detail and ability to identify/correct minor errors among volumes of data
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified CPA
  • 2+ years’ demonstrated experience working with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA)
  • 2+ years’ demonstrated experience in FAR accounting regulations including assisting companies with DCAA representation
  • Experience with ADP Payroll
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA)
  • Demonstrated experience with cost pool development
  • ERP experience (e.g. Deltek, JAMIS)
