About the Opportunity:
The FDIC contractor Network Security Engineer with Zscaler Expert (Level 3) is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, and supporting of network and network security infrastructure and application components.
All work activities will be performed remotely unless the government requires the contractor to perform work onsite in the HQ Region. Experience performing security-based (e.g., FISMA) activities is required. Experience and knowledge of network access concepts and knowledge required, in addition to the following responsibilities:

  • Have a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking and WAN.
  • Designing, deploying and supporting Zscaler Cloud based Infrastructure across various Data Centers and Disaster Recovery environments.
  • Manage and configure ZScalar proxy devices.
  • Understand the Traffic Flows for both Https (web Traffic) standard and custom application-based traffic and accordingly design solution around it for Firewalling and Proxy services.
  • Whitelisting IP space for various Project team to access external vendors access to ensure safe and secure connectivity.
  • Work on Palo Alto Zone based Firewalls to create Zones and Policies for various segment of the network and accordingly troubleshoot any connectivity issues thereof across various Security Zones.
  • Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, etc.
  • Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Work with internal applications teams, design, and implement an appropriate ZTNA pilot with Zscaler.
  • Provide Technical Support for issues escalated by pilot users.
  • Azure Infrastructure experience and understanding is good to have.
  • Develop technical implementation plan for FDIC ZTNA. This includes consideration for all integration points of the ZT pillars such as endpoint, identity and workloads.
  • Suggest and develop security policies that incorporate zero trust principles as identified in the agency’s strategic goals to incorporate telemetry from identity systems, endpoints and external management systems.
  • Develop SOP and TTPs to operate the FDIC ZTNA platform.
  • Lead communications with key customer stakeholders.
  • Develop artifacts to support FDIC validation and approval boards. These artifacts describe the proposed architecture and security measures taken to meet FDIC and Federal requirements.
  • Develop supporting artifacts that are used to accomplish authorization to operate under the RMF framework.
  • Provide weekly update to IOSB and Zero Trust PM, ensuring proper progress is being made.
  • Coordinate with FDIC initial test applications and user community to ensure a successful pilot.
  • Capture lessons learned, change implementation plan and proposed risk mitigations to existing concerns.
  • Maintain accurate status and accountability of FDIC use cases to ensure that solutions and implementations will mitigate disruption of service.
