Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Communications and Marketing (UCM), the Director of Web Strategy and Development is an experienced web professional who provides leadership and guidance in planning, optimizing and directing the design, functionality and effectiveness of Cal Poly's web presence as it relates to the university's marketing goals.

The director is a motivated team leader and effective communicator who oversees UCM-related web responsibilities and directly manages the division's internal web team, which is responsible for the university's gateway website and select other web properties, as well as overarching web strategy for Cal Poly, in partnership with Information Technology Services (ITS). The position guides the strategy of the university's gateway sites and works in direct partnership with ITS to develop and oversee strategies, processes and policies for Cal Poly's enterprise web environment. The director also serves as the primary contact for UCM's web team and directs and oversees the work of various third-party vendors.

University Communications and Marketing (UCM) serves as the ambassadors, stewards and protectors of Cal Poly's reputation and brand. Key Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in effective leadership and project management, with a proven ability to organize and lead teams, including internal staff, external partners and technical consultants.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and effectively lead staff to meet program goals and manage day-to-day operations.
Experience overseeing the development of websites that address the issues of strategy, design, architecture, integration and accessibility.
Fluent operational understanding of CMS, such as Drupal and WordPress.
Detail-oriented and knowledgeable in best practices for online content consumption, content strategy and website usability.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant web communications and managerial experience.
Salary and Benefits

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. Note that the offer is calculated based on the background and relevant years of experience of the individual selected.
