We are looking for a motivated, career-oriented, Water and Wastewater Operator to join the True West Beef team. The operator will share in the responsibility for successful operation of a brand-new, multi-faceted, wastewater treatment facility and public drinking water system. This role will be responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment, biological processes, land application site, sanitary sewer systems, composting operation, and a public drinking water system. The operator will fill a dynamic role with assigned duties to include sample collection, lab analysis, data management, compliance documentation, preventative maintenance, equipment repair, instrument calibration, process control, process troubleshooting, and various other related tasks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily sample collection, lab analysis, and mathematical calculations aligned with technical procedures and approved scientific methods.
  • Perform collection, collation, recording, evaluation, and interpretation of technical data to support plant operations and meet regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clear and concise communication and system updates to co-workers and management team.
  • Effectively receive, disseminate, and implement directions from the management team.
  • The monitoring of SCADA system through HMI, review and evaluate trending, and surveil alarms.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and troubleshooting skills.
  • Participate in maintenance of all facilities and documentation in an audit-ready state through persistence and the implementation of good housekeeping practices.
  • Safely and effectively operate support equipment as needed (forklift, telehandler, UTV, manlift, loader, tractor, dump truck, etc.).
  • Track chemical usage and supply inventories to insure availability and uninterrupted operation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and calibration of system equipment in coordination with the companies computerized maintenance management system.
  • Engage in computerized maintenance management system including a preventative maintenance program, critical spare parts inventory, and tracking of repairs.
  • Follow written and verbal instruction. Comply with company policies and procedures including all related safe work practices.
  • Develop positive working relationships with co-workers and other department personnel to insure an efficient, effective, and collaborative operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Idaho driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Personal cell phone and basic tools required (tools +/- $250).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Willingness and ability to serve on call and/or work nights, weekends, or holidays.
  • Comfortable working in odorous, hot, humid, dirty, noisy, or generally unsavory environments. Comfortable working indoors, outdoors and in inclement weather.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 50 pounds, climbing ladders, standing, crawling, stooping, twisting, kneeling, working from a boat, working in confined spaces, working from heights, working in physically demanding situations, and safely working around hazardous chemicals or equipment.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Course work, training, or experience in biology, chemistry, hydraulics, or mechanics required.
  • Drinking water distribution and wastewater treatment certifications and experience required.
  • Supervisory experience required.
