Warehouse Manager Job Summary

Flexpro Meals is seeking a Warehouse Manager in Kansas City , MO. As the Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for the overall P&L performance of the warehouse fulfillment center.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Senior Director of Operations

Supervises: Supervisors, Team Leads, and warehouse associates

JOB SUMMARY

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse including customer relationship management, financial performance, operations, safety, customer service, office operations, security, and regulatory compliance. The Warehouse Manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls all warehouse activities including pick and pack order fulfillment. The selection, professional development, and motivation of all personnel are key responsibilities. The Warehouse Manager assists senior management in establishing performance objectives and strategic planning. The Warehouse Manager is accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives regarding customer service, safety, quality assurance, cost control, inventory control, productivity, security, profit, and return on investments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Communications

Will be involved in many multi-level communications with Senior Management, Corporate Staff, Safety personnel, IT, Logistics Management, Sales & Marketing personnel, Equipment and Facility Maintenance personnel. Maintain regular contact with the Customer Service Manager. Hold management and staff meetings to organize warehouse activities. Manage lease agreement relationships.

Operations

Ensure the development and enforcement of systems and procedures for operating and managing warehouse facilities, material handling & transportation equipment, and human resources. Manage a majority of Spanish speaking employees so must be able to communicate effectively in both languages. Plan, direct, and implement warehouse operations and administrative support to meet prescribed productivity and service goals. Actively promote safe work habits and processes necessary to prevent personal injuries or accidents resulting in damage to property or merchandise. Ensure that all company activities and operations are carried out in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and laws governing business operations.

Specific considerations to manage:

  • Finished freezer inventory (FIFO)
  • Physical inventory counts
  • Developing new inventory system
  • Packaging material
  • Optimize leased space
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work with 3rd party carriers like FedEx to improve on-time deliveries

Personnel Management

Direct the activities of the warehouse team to achieve prescribed objectives. Apply effective communication and motivational techniques and create programs to supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates. Assist Human Resources in creating programs for hiring, training, and professional development. Recommend promotions, wage increases, or terminations. Create and sustain a good place to work culture.

Information Technology

Work with IT to ensure the implementation of warehouse management information systems necessary to meet company and customer objectives and facilitate the efficient operation of warehouse facilities. Maintain a working knowledge of company and customer warehouse management information systems.

Customer Service

Work closely with the Customer Service Manager to develop processes and systems to ensure customers receive their shipments on time every time.

Specific considerations to manage:

  • Review cost per incident reports with Customer service Manager and develop strategies to reduce expense
  • Use customer service data to recommend and implement improvements to the customer unboxing experience
  • Develop new metrics that help us improve overall customer experience

Budgeting

Develop and recommend an annual operating budget. Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters. Negotiate the best value with vendors for services and supplies.

Equipment & Facilities

Develop and enforce suitable programs for maintaining company standards of equipment and facility maintenance, housekeeping, and safety. Ensure strict compliance with the company security policies and procedures designed to protect the well-being of employees, visitors, merchandise, equipment, and property. Monitor equipment usage and submit the necessary justification for additional or replacement equipment required for an efficient and cost-effective operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business with a specialization in Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred. High school or GED required.

Bi-lingual is mandatory for this position. Do not need to be fluent in Spanish, but at least need to be able to communicate effectively to our team as the majority are Spanish speaking only.

Experience: 5+ or more years of demonstrated effective success managing customer relationships and supervisory skills, with a work history of successfully managing warehouse/distribution center operations in a cold and freezer environment. Experience managing a fulfillment center is a major plus. Proven experience managing and improving multiple warehouse processes such as managing inventory levels, managing overtime hours, constantly looking to improve operations. Previous experience managing financial performance preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • An experienced leader in the warehouse and logistics field
  • Well versed in excel skills and analytical reporting,
  • Warehouse management systems, and material handling equipment
  • Knowledge of Safe warehousing practices and OSHA requirements
  • A decisive individual who possesses a strategic focus as well as an operational implementation perspective
  • Effective skills in planning, hiring, budgeting, organizing, controlling, communicating, and problem-solving. The ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership, and integrate diverse individuals toward profitability objectives is essential
  • Demonstrated proficiency at creating and sustaining a good place to work culture and developing a team

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work in a cold freezer, cold storage, office, and warehouse environment
  • Excel reporting daily/monthly
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty
  • Work on concrete and unlevel surfaces
  • Able to operate a forklift or other warehouse equipment properly
  • Utilize muscles to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds
